The Wine Box Collio Ribolla Gialla from Borgo San Daniele is a package designed for fans of Ribolla Gialla, an indigenous variety from the Friulian and Slovenian Collio, where it has been cultivated since antiquity. The Friulian wine company Borgo San Daniele aims to enhance this and other traditional grape varieties of Friuli-Venezia Giulia through a sustainable production approach. At the helm of the estate are brothers Mauro and Alessandra Mauri, who manage about 19 hectares of vineyards located around the municipality of Cormons, in the heart of the Collio Goriziano.
Borgo San Daniele Wine Box Collio Ribolla Gialla includes six bottles of Ribolla Gialla from the Collio produced by the family-run winery Borgo San Daniele. This is a pure Ribolla Gialla made from grapes grown following the principles of organic and biodynamic agriculture on the characteristic ponca, a type of soil typical of the Collio consisting of alternating layers of marls and sandstones of marine origin. The harvest is done by hand, and the bunches are then transferred to winery where they undergo a pre-fermentation skin maceration. This is followed by soft pressing and the subsequent alcoholic fermentation of the must in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, in order to preserve the aromatic heritage of the wine. The mass remains in steel to mature for several months on the fine lees before bottling and final marketing. Thus, a Ribolla Gialla of remarkable purity is born, endowed with fragrant aromas of summer fruit, citrus, and wildflowers, and a fresh and mineral taste.
