Barbera d'Alba 'Fides' Pio Cesare 2022

“Fides”, or “faith” from the Latin language: it indeed takes a lot of trust and self-confidence to plant Barbera grapes in a terroir, that of the Langhe, which could easily give rise to a great Barolo. Pio Cesare, however, from the height of its centuries-old history made of great successes, is not afraid to show the great love that the Boffa family has for Barbera d’Alba, giving it the right visibility and creating a red wine with a solid and concrete profile, where a sip of personality joins an interesting olfactory proposal. The “Fides” is a label that consolidates and strengthens the bond between the winery and the area of Alba, in a journey where the tradition of indigenous grape varieties merges with a perspective that looks to the future. 

The Pio Cesare winery produces this Barbera d’Alba Fides from grapes cultivated and grown in the vineyard “Colombaro”, in Serralunga d’Alba. The clusters of Barbera, carefully selected to ensure only the best quality in the glass, after harvesting ferment alcoholically in steel, slowly macerating for 25 days; then follows the aging phase, carried out for 18 months both in barriques and in larger wooden barrels, and the bottling.

The Barbera d’Alba DOC Fides from the Pio Cesare winery manifests itself visually with an intense and deep ruby red color. The aromatic sensations that spread to the nose are broad, highlighting notes of red fruit alternating with aromas of sweet spices. On the palate it is full-bodied, with a concentrated sip that is a synthesis of a balance between freshness and softness. A bottle that tells the story of the Langhe territory in Piemonte, and that finds its gastronomic vocation especially in pairing with second courses of red meat and game.
