The Barbera d'Alba 'San Michele' by Malvirà is an intense red wine aged in wooden barrels for about 20 months. Pleasant nuances of red fruit and vegetal puffs, on the palate it shows a good structure, it is fresh, soft, and with fruity returns

The Barbera San Michele by Malvirà is a soft and complex red, a splendid ally for the everyday table. Brothers Massimo and Roberto Damonte are the guardians of a large vineyard area in the Cuneo region, and despite having 45 hectares, they have always chosen to prioritize quality over quantity. The vineyards, all owned, are managed organically and are cultivated with the most important local indigenous grape varieties such as Nebbiolo, Barbera, Brachetto, and Arneis, as well as small quantities of Riesling and Sauvignon. A wide range of labels, distinguished by a consistently high quality level and extremely advantageous price-quality ratio: make room in your cellar!

The red Barbera is produced from pure grapes of the same name, coming exclusively from the San Michele vineyard located in the historic hill of Canale. The vineyard is exclusively cultivated with Barbera; the San Michele, which extends for about 2.5 hectares, has very old vines as it was planted in 1929. After the harvest, which generally takes place in October, and the destemming and crushing, the must is fermented in stainless steel containers at controlled temperature and subsequently aged for 18-20 months in wooden barrels. An additional resting in glass precedes the market release.

The Barbera wine presents itself in the glass with an intense and concentrated ruby red color. From the very first sniff, it reveals all its fruit fullness, offering in succession plum, blueberries, and currants followed by sweet notes of white chocolate and vanilla. The aromas perceived on the nose are also confirmed on the palate, where the wine fills the mouth with a soft and velvety texture, enlivened at the finish by a right dose of freshness and sapidity. A table wine of great elegance, it enhances meat dishes such as pork fillets or roasts, as well as mushroom risottos and richly seasoned first courses.
