'GIRAMONDO' L'ACINO 2021 DESCRIPTION

'Giramondo' of the Calabrian artisanal reality L'Acino is an orange wine with asuave and aromatic character, very seductive. It is a pure expression of Malvasia grapes, an important family of aromatic vines that arrived on Italian shores in ancient times, originating in the Greek port of Monemvasia, hence the name Malvasia. Its spread in Italy is partly due to the Greek colonists themselves, especially in the southern regions, and partly to the Republic of Venice, with its rich trade. Specifically, Malvasia di Candia, the variety used in the production of this wine, comes from the island of Crete, known as Candia in antiquity.

The 'Giramondo' L'Acino Orange is a 100% Malvasia di Candia from vines about 15 years old located in the Pollino National Park, at an altitude of 650 metres above sea level, on soils composed mainly of shale. The vines also benefit from the area's special microclimate, the result of the concomitant influence of mountain air and mild breezes blowing in from the sea. The bunches are harvested by hand and are then vinified through spontaneous alcoholic fermentation accompanied by 24 hours of maceration on the skins. Once the fermentation process is complete, the mass is decanted into mulberry wood barrels for the long ageing period of 16 months that precedes the final bottling.

The 'Giramondo' L'Acino presents itself in the glass with a cloudy golden yellow colour with orange tints. The olfactory bouquet expresses typical aromatic scents of cedar, summer fruit, wild flowers and Mediterranean herbs, enhanced by distinctive notes of straw and oriental spices. The progression on the palate is full, soft and tasty, endowed with an authentic and pleasantly rustic dimension that rests on a long, savoury and aromatic finish.

When to open
To enjoy it at its best, we recommend you to let the wine 'breathe' at least 15-30 minutes before serving
When to drink
Wine good to drink now, but that can have a beautiful evolution after resting for a while in your cellar
Glass
Medium open goblet
Perfect for young and medium bodied orange wines which require a minimum oxygenation to open. The opening, slightly tighter than the body of the glass, favors the concentration of aromas towards the nose, enhancing the perception of aromas and limiting the dispersion
Longevity
You can let it rest in the cellar quietly for 2-3 years
