The Lagrein Riserva "Barbagol" is a wine that expresses with intensity and aromatic richness the characteristics of the grape variety and the Alto Adige territory. Aromas of cherry, sweet spices, and noble woods accompany a soft, full-bodied, and pleasantly tannic sip, with a long progression, due to the long maturation of 20 months in oak barrels

The Lagrein Riserva “Barbagol” from the Laimburg Experimental Center winery is a rich and structured intense red, perfectly reflecting the characteristics of this ancient indigenous variety from South Tyrol, characterized by aromas of small dark berry fruits and pleasant spicy hints. It is a label that is part of the Selezione Maniero collection, which gathers the most prestigious versions of the winery. Thanks to a large vineyard area, spread over 12 estates, Laimburg can cultivate each grape in the most suitable area and enhance its qualities.

The “Barbagol” is a Lagrein Riserva that originates within the Laimburg Experimental Center, one of the most important realities in South Tyrol, specialized in the experimentation and production of wines with a typically territorial character, highlighting the best characteristics of the historically cultivated grape varieties in the region. The Lagrein grapes come from vineyards trained partly in pergola and partly in espalier on the hilly slopes located near near Bolzano and Gries, at an altitude of about 250 meters above sea level. The vines sink their roots into clayey soils with abundant sand, quite loose and very draining. At the end of the harvest, the best bunches are sent for fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, with maceration on the skins for a few weeks. The wine matures for 20 months in oak barrels and is refined for a few months in the bottle before being released on the market.

The Lagrein Riserva “Barbagol” Laimburg is the most typical red of South Tyrol, endowed with great personality and character. Due to its peculiarities, it finds the best pairings with important and flavorful dishes, particularly with braised game. Dark ruby red in color, with slight violet reflections, it expresses intense aromas of small dark berry fruits reminiscent of wild blackberry, black currant, as well as red-fleshed plum, notes of vanilla, and sweet spices. Intense and structured, on the palate it has a dense tannic texture, wrapped in soft and rich fruit, which anticipates a fresh and very persistent finish.
