Orange Chateau de Cranne 2024
Artisanal
Organic and biodynamicThis "Orange" from Chateau de Cranne is an organic macerated white produced in the Bordeaux region, an unusual creation that showcases the creativity of this Chateau. The Sémillon grapes remain in contact with the skins for an extended period, giving the wine its characteristic color and good body. On the nose, it presents notes of peach and pleasant hints of salinity, while on the palate it shows a characteristic richness, balanced by liveliness and freshness. Drinkable and gastronomic, to pair with delicious fish appetizers
The Orange from Chateau de Cranne represents a refined macerated version of Sémillon, an indigenous white grape variety from the Bordeaux region, where the estate is located. This grape is traditionally used for the production of the famous sweet wine Sauternes due to its thin skin and susceptibility to noble rot. Instead, Chateau de Cranne offers the Sémillon vinified through skin maceration to create a rather complex wine with brilliant dynamism, emblematic of the genuine and artisanal spirit of the winery.
Chateau de Cranne Orange is a pure Sémillon from vines cultivated under certified organic farming on alluvial soils. Following the harvest, the grapes are crushed in stainless steel tanks for spontaneous alcoholic fermentation conducted by indigenous yeasts, with a remarkable 3 months of skin maceration. After separating the liquid from the skins, the mass matures for several months always in steel before bottling and final commercialization.
In the glass, the Orange Sémillon from Chateau de Cranne reveals an intense and bright orange hue. The olfactory panorama is defined by intense notes of ripe peach, candied lemon peel, and macerated flowers, adorned with slight and pleasant iodized hints. On the palate, it is quite fresh and pleasantly rich, with a very drinkable and delicately tannic progression. The finish emphasizes sensations of candied citrus and dried fruit. Despite having remarkable smoothness and gustatory agility, this Bordeaux orange wine requires pairings of a certain structure, such as flavorful fish main courses, medium-aged cheeses, or creamy risottos.
