Piccini's Orvieto Classico 'Collezione Oro' is a white wine endowed with a fine mineral character son of the volcanic territory from which it originates. The Orvietano area is of very ancient origin having been formed in the Pleistocene as a result of the activity of the volcanic complex of the Vulsini Mountains. The Tuscan Piccini family interprets the area using the traditional varieties Procanico and Grechetto, the latter represented by clones G5 and G109, also known as Grechetto di Todi and Grechetto di Orvieto, respectively. These vines are then combined with a small percentage of Chardonnay, a noble white grape variety that in the Orvietano area provides qualitatively exciting results.
The 'Collezione Oro' Piccini Orvieto Classico comes from a blend of Grechetto di Todi, Procanico, Grechetto di Orvieto and Chardonnay grapes grown in the Orvieto area on soils of volcanic origin. The harvest is followed by white vinification of the clusters by soft pressing and alcoholic fermentation of the must in thermoregulated stainless steel tanks. Also in stainless steel, the mass remains to mature for several months until bottling, which is followed by a brief aging in glass before final release.
The 'Collezione Oro' Orvieto Classico from the Piccini winery possesses a light straw yellow color with greenish hues. The aromas range from floral notes of honeysuckle and jasmine to fruity hints of apple and kiwi, all accompanied by hints of tropical fruit, citrus and yellow-fleshed fruit. The progression on the palate is soft and intense, as well as pleasantly fresh and savory, elements that lend brio to the finish of good persistence, characterized by consistent fruity and floral returns.
