SAGRANTINO DI MONTEFALCO 'IL DOMENICO' ADANTI 2010 DESCRIPTION

The Montefalco Sagrantino "Il Domenico" by Adanti is a tribute to the Umbrian land, the rustic one, true, intense and expressive. For years the Adanti winery has been contributing to the history of Sagrantino and Umbria. It consists of about 40 hectares of property, of which 30 are vineyards and the remaining 10 olive groves, located in the hilly areas of Arquata and Colcimino, in the province of Bevagna. The production is focused on autochthonous viticulture, divided into both red and white grape varieties, but firmly anchored to the local history and tradition. This label tells in the most essential, intense and direct way the viticulture of the territory, with its peculiarities and its identity features.

Domenico Sagrantino comes from the vineyards of Colcimino, located 360 meters above sea level and are defined as a type of clay-sandy and calcareous soil. During the first half of October there is a manual harvest, which allows the grapes to be vinified. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks, while the aging phase is carried out in large wooden barrels for 30 months. A last period of 24 months of aging in bottle makes this red ready for commercialization.

Sagrantino di Montefalco Adanti has an intense ruby red color. The nose shows a complexity of blackberries, plums, sour cherry, graphite, licorice, goudron, roasting, a balsamic note and a spicy timbre of juniper. In the mouth reveals a body of great density and matter, managed in great balance with tannin and freshness. It is a very intense wine that seems to have stopped time: it comes from a very long aging and lends itself to a positive evolution in bottle for many years.
