Vermentino di Sardegna 'Un Anno Dopo' is an extremely versatile white wine that, among its many merits, is also characterised by easy and satisfying drinkability and is ideal to accompany various Italian dishes. Round and harmonious, it is a bottle that makes freshness its calling card. This is thanks to the approach taken by Quartomoro, a recently established winery that is constantly evolving, characterised by a non-interventionist philosophy, both in the vineyard and the cellar. A method of work that pays off, as this label brilliantly demonstrates.
Vermentino di Sardegna originates from the grapes of the same name grown in sandy soils resulting from the granite disintegration of the subsoil. The vines grow using the espalier training method, and the bunches during the harvest are picked by hand by Quartomoro and immediately placed in boxes. The grapes undergo a soft pressing, and the must is statically decanted, then fermented in steel containers at a controlled temperature. Maturation takes place first in steel for 6 months and, after bottling, for 8 months, directly in glass.
"Quartomoro's 'Un Anno Dopo' reveals itself to the eye with a deep straw yellow colour, crossed by greenish flashes in the rim. The bouquet of sensations that envelops the nose tells of a texture of refreshing, balsamic notes, from which emerge floral and fruity touches, as well as hints of Mediterranean scrub. It is medium-bodied on the palate, with a sip characterised by a fresh, mineral taste and a good final persistence. The perfect bottle to pair with an elegant fish dinner.
