Vermentino 'Marittimo' Antonio Camillo 2023

Antonio Camillo's Vermentino 'Marittimo' comes from the vineyards of Capalbio, along the Maremma coastline. Camillo is a true craftsman and singer of the Maremma territory, which he recounts with his wines. The wine expresses a crystal-clear Mediterranean character, also thanks to the cement maturation that preserves the freshness of the fruit. Hints of white fruit intertwine with a definite minerality, while the palate flows linear, savoury and fresh. Refreshing

VERMENTINO 'MARITTIMO' ANTONIO CAMILLO 2023 DESCRIPTION

Vermentino 'Marittimo' is a Tuscan white wine with a savoury, Mediterranean character produced in the Maremma area of Tuscany by the Antonio Camillo winery. Its marine identity, highlighted by the appellation 'Marittimo', derives from the location of the vineyard, in the Capalbio area, close to the Tyrrhenian Sea. Here, the sea breezes that cross the coast on the one hand protect the vines from any moisture stagnation and on the other influence the quality of the finished wine, contributing to the definition of its aroma and taste.

The 'Marittimo' Vermentino Antonio Camillo is a 100% Vermentino from vines about 20 years old grown using environmentally friendly practices on soils rich in clay and sand. Once the grapes have reached the right stage of ripeness, they are harvested and then vinified in white by soft pressing and spontaneous alcoholic fermentation of the must in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of around 20 °C, entrusted exclusively to indigenous yeasts. Once the fermentation process is complete, the wine is left to mature for 6 months in cement vats, followed by at least a further 3 months resting in the bottle before final release.

On visual inspection, the Vermentino 'Marittimo' from Tuscan producer Antonio Camillo reveals an intense straw yellow colour. The nose reveals inviting sensations of white peach and flowers such as chamomile, associated with hints of aromatic herbs and evocative iodine hints. The taste shows pronounced tanginess and balanced freshness, as well as a clear fruity finish that invites you to return to the glass again and again. This Tuscan Vermentino is the perfect accompaniment to tasty traditional Tuscan seafood dishes such as baccalà alla maremmana or caciucco alla livornese.
