'VOLPE ROSA' CANTINA GIARDINO 2021 DESCRIPTION

The 'Volpe Rosa' wine produced by Cantina Giardino is made from an ancient and rare indigenous Campania grape variety: the Coda di Volpe Rossa. In the heart of Irpinia, next to the Aglianico vineyards, it has always been traditional to plant rows of this grape, which the Giardino Winery vinifies in rosé form with very interesting results. It is a territorial wine, captivating with its delicate floral aromas, elegant fruity aromas, freshness and flavour. It is a rosé dedicated to those looking for something special, for an unusual label, just waiting to be discovered. It is a rich, intense rosé with a clear gastronomic vocation.

The 'Volpe Rosa' of Cantina Giardino is a rare wine produced with a still artisanal spirit. It stems from the desire not to lose the memory of the territory and the ancient customs of the past. The estate, of around 25 hectares, is located near Ariano Irpino and was created to preserve and enhance the indigenous vines of Campania, present in the Irpinian territory with old vines over 40 years old. It is a project that aims to preserve the vine heritage of a land that has always had a vocation for wine production and its most ancient oenological traditions. The vineyards are managed under organic farming methods, using only sulphur and copper, in a natural biodiversity-rich environment. The work in the cellar is inspired by a minimalist vision, in which an attempt is made to respect the varietal character of the grapes with minimal intervention to produce wines that are an authentic and faithful expression of the terroir.

Cantina Giardino's 'Volpe Rosa' rosé comes from spontaneous fermentation using only indigenous yeasts and a two-day maceration on the skins to extract colour and aroma. The wine rests in concrete vats and amphorae and is bottled without filtering or clarification. In the glass, it is an intense pink colour with auburn highlights. The bouquet expresses floral scents, aromatic herbs, and aromas of small berries. The sip is harmonious and fruity, with a rich and expressive mouth centre, stretching towards a savoury finish with good freshness.
