"Clar" from the Finca Parera winery is a white wine made from a blend of lightly macerated grapes. Produced in the Catalonia region according to biodynamic principles, it is fermented with indigenous yeasts, aged for 6 months in cement tanks, and finally bottled with the waning moon without any filtration intervention. Its orange color is indeed hazy due to some sediments. The bouquet expresses fresh citrus aromas and white-fleshed fruit, supported by honeyed hints. The sip is fresh and creamy at the same time

“Clar” is the white produced by Finca Perera with a blend of typical Catalan and international varieties: according to the intentions of Ruben Parera, the young winemaker who has revitalized the family business, it is meant to represent the entry-level label of the winery and at the same time reflect the character of this particularly suited land, where he is fortunate to live.

The white “Clar” from the Finca Parera winery is made from grapes grown in a unique territory and microclimate, surprisingly not far from one of the areas with the highest tourist density in all of Spain: Sant Llorenç d'Hortons is located in the wine region of Penedes, which represents the inland of Barcelona, slightly shifted to the west. The vineyards have evocative names like La Plana, La Lengua del pozo, El Anfiteatro, La Viña de Pepe, Las Abejas, La Malvasia; they are positioned around 300 meters above sea level, at the foothills of Montserrat, and numerous varieties are cultivated there: Xarel-lo primarily, from a vineyard recovered in the 1940s, and then Malvasia de Sitges, Parellada, Garnacha Blanca, Chardonnay, and Gewurtztraminer. The harvest is conducted manually and all the grapes are collected in 250-kilogram bins and quickly brought to the winery. The grapes are left in skin maceration, with 30% of the stems, for a few days in steel tanks, until fermentation starts spontaneously and is completed without any movement of the pomace. The wine matures under these conditions for about 6 months, until spring, when pressing and racking take place. Bottling is done without any intervention or addition, during the waning moon phases.

The appearance of the “Clar” produced by Finca Parera well reflects its deeply artisanal soul, with its yellow-ochre color with coppery reflections and its hazy aspect. The aromas that are perceived are almost in antithesis, almost delicate: a freshness of citrus peels, mixed with hints of white-fleshed fruit, gives way to sweeter notes, like honey. The tasting reveals an interesting balance between creamy softness, a certain tannic component and a lively freshness that invites further sips, closing with subtle mineral notes. An entry-level white but by no means trivial, to pair with roasted white meats, as well as seafood dishes.
