The "Junior" by Monsupello is a red wine from Oltrepò with a fresh and direct sip, ideal for family Sundays. It colors the glass with a pale red, releasing aromas of red fruit, cherries, spices, and slight rustic hints of underbrush. It stands out on the palate for its smooth, crisp, and drinkable character, with a lively freshness.

The Pinot Nero “Junior” from Monsupello is born on the hills of Oltrepò Pavese, a territory renowned for its historical and excellent wine production. The winery has been historically run by the Boatti family, who have lived and cultivated the lands in the locality of Cà del Tava in Oliva Gessi since 1893. Over time, generation after generation, production has been expanded and modernized with the introduction of an updated winemaking facility, bottling, and storage; today, brothers Pierangelo and Laura carry on the family’s historic work with their eyes always set on the future.

The vineyards of the Pinot Nero “Junior” from Monsupello have their roots in a soil composed of clay and limestone for structured wines. The exposure is southwest, an excellent position for the grapes to reach their full ripeness before harvest. In the vineyard, the sought-after yield is never higher than what is possible, in order to ensure harmonious and quality products. In this area, the summers are particularly hot and dry, while the winters are cold, humid, and foggy. The harvest is manual, and the best bunches are selected and placed in crates. In the winery, the bunches are destemmed and then undergo alcoholic fermentation, followed by malolactic fermentation after 10 days. It ages in steel for a few months.

Visually, the Pinot Nero “Junior” from Monsupello presents a ruby red color; the bouquet of aromas is broad and recalls cherry, strawberry, and berries with a finish of forest spices and underbrush. On the palate, it reveals itself as fresh, crunchy and elegant with a well-integrated tannin in the structure. It pairs excellently with mushroom risotto, cuts of red meat grilled and stewed; interesting also with aged cheeses. A product of rare quality, the result of the careful and meticulous work of generations that continue to update their production method to keep the activity in step with the times.
