The Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso from the La Roncaia winery is a very intense, structured, and territorial red wine, made from dried grapes and aged for 18 months in barriques. An articulated and deep aromatic profile of jammy berries, leather, tobacco, and wild spices enriches a round, warm, and vigorous tasting experience, with intense freshness and solid tannic structure.
Refosco La Roncaia is an intense and complex wine, with earthy and wild notes that characteristically tell the story of the native Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso and its peculiar aromaticity. A bottle born from a late harvest and subsequent drying of the grapes, which are thus rich in sugars, aromas, and organoleptic properties. A warm and velvety label, with remarkable taste persistence, to be tasted in combination with grilled meats.
This Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso is produced by the La Roncaia winery starting from the vineyards around the town of Nimis. The terroir where the vines take root – which grow using the unilateral guyot system – is characterized by its Eocene origin and presents a great richness of marl. The harvest is late, and the collected grapes are then subjected to an 8-week drying process. The must ferments in steel tanks, remaining in contact with the skins for 25-30 days. Malolactic fermentation occurs subsequently, when the wine is already in barrique, where it then rests for a total of 18 months. Once bottling is completed, the wine remains for another 6 months to mature in glass before being released to the market.
The Refosco from the La Roncaia winery lights up the glass with a ruby color, crossed by some streaks tending more towards garnet. The nose is layered, organized around hints of jammy fruit and a range of deep tertiary notes, where leather and pepper play a predominant role. Undoubtedly on the palate, there is a firm structure, where the sip, soft and round, flows warmly, yet also highlights a fresh soul, where the tannins are lively.
