Saint-Emilion Grand Cru Chateau Corbin Michotte 2018
Chateau Corbin Michotte's Saint-Emilion Grand Cru is Red Bordeaux from the 'Rive droite'. In the right bank tradition, Merlot is the most widely used grape variety. A dark, impenetrable red, it offers a complex bouquet of black fruits, subtle hints of spices such as vanilla. In the mouth it is enveloping and silky, with soft tannins and a balanced structure. Warm, harmonious and velvety, it is balanced by a fresh finish that prepares the mouth for a new sip
Chateau Corbin Michotte Saint-Emilion Grand Cru is an expression of the Bordeaux territory of Saint-Emilion with a full, intense, and elegant taste. Chateau Corbin Michotte was founded in 1726 in the Corbin area, bordering the Pomerol region, near the sacred monsters of Bordeaux enology like Cheval Blanc and Petrus. Since 1760, the estate has been run by the Boidron family, today represented by Jean-Noel, a former professor at the Bordeaux Institute of Enology, assisted by his children Hubert, Emmanuel, and Isabelle, who represent the eighth generation of winemakers in the family. In particular, Hubert is responsible for the vineyards and winemaking, Emmanuel takes care of the commercial aspect, while Isabelle is engaged in the administrative part.
The Saint-Emilion Grand Cru Chateau Corbin Michotte comes from a blend of Merlot (65%), Cabernet Franc (35%), and Cabernet Sauvignon (5%). These varieties, represented by vines over 35 years old on average, are cultivated without the use of herbicides on sandy soils characterized by an abundant presence of gravel, silica, and iron. After manual harvesting, the grapes are crushed in concrete tanks, where alcoholic fermentation takes place at controlled temperature in contact with the skins. Subsequently, the mass is aged in French oak barrels, 70% new, and in stainless steel tanks for a total period of 23 months until the final bottling.
Chateau Corbin Michotte Saint-Emilion Grand Cru is an intense and impenetrable ruby red. From the glass emerge fruity notes of cherry, blueberry, and plum that blend with balsamic hints and aromas of sweet spices like cocoa and vanilla derived from the wood aging. Intense and powerful on the palate, where the enveloping warmth is well supported by the silky tannic structure and the freshness that accompanies the finish.
