AMARONE DELLA VALPOLICELLA RISERVA 'DECEM' PIETRO ZARDINI 2013 DESCRIPTION

In the heart of the magnificent Valpolicella, amidst ancient lands and centuries-old traditions, lies an unparalleled oenological treasure: Amarone della Valpolicella Riserva 'Decem' by Pietro Zardini. This extraordinary wine is the flagship of the winery, the fruit of a passion handed down from generation to generation. The label itself tells a story of skill and dedication and, in fact, "Decem", the name of this Amarone, evokes precisely the ten long years of ageing that give it an intense and exceptional character.

In the Valpolicella area, where the soil is rich in limestone marl and basalt, the grapes destined to become the beating heart of 'Decem' Amarone Riserva from Pietro Zardini's cellar are grown. Here, among the most suitable vineyards, grow Corvina, Rondinella, Molinara and Croatina, the varieties carefully selected to create a blend of extraordinary complexity with the best grapes from the best vintages. The natural drying of the grapes for about four months is followed by a traditional fermentation on the skins, a ritual that has been handed down for centuries, guaranteeing an Amarone with an authentic soul. After this phase, the wine matures for three years in amphora, three years in oak barrels and a further three years in barriques, before resting in bottles for a further year. It is a long and painstaking process, but the result is a wine that embodies the quintessence of Valpolicella.

'Decem' Amarone della Valpolicella Riserva di Pietro Zardini presents itself to the glass with an intense ruby red colour, tinged with garnet hues, anticipating a bouquet that enraptures the senses with notes of ripe fruit, coffee, cocoa and spices. On the palate, it reveals all its complexity: structured, warm and harmonious, with a lingering aftertaste reminiscent of fine wood and amphora. This wine is a real treasure to be treasured, an ideal companion for special evenings or moments of reflection. To be enjoyed at a temperature of 18°C, perhaps in the company of succulent red meats or tasty cheeses, or simply on its own, to be enveloped in a timeless sensory experience. Amarone della Valpolicella Riserva 'Decem' by Pietro Zardini: a journey into the heart of the Italian wine-making tradition, an emotion to be savoured in every sip.
