Mareneve' Fedegraziani 2023
ArtisanalThe "Mareneve" from the Fedegraziani winery is a white wine from the magical lands of Etna. It is made with a blend of Carricante, Riesling Renano, Traminer, Chenin Blanc, and Grecanico that merges Sicilian tradition with international influences, aging in steel tanks for 12 months. The straw yellow color fills the glass with greenish hues while broad aromas of tropical fruit and white flowers surprise the nose. The taste is enchanting, fresh, mineral, savory, and has excellent persistence.
The Mareneve by Fedegraziani is the realization of a challenge, the possibility to experiment not only in the winery but also in the territory, on Etna. It is the result of an alchemy between northern grape varieties and volcanic soils: a magical lemon granita, which expresses unexpected aromaticity. We are talking about a blend of grape varieties typical of cold climate areas (Carricante, Riesling Renano, Traminer Aromatico, Chenin Blanc, and Grecanico), which find a home on the slopes of Etna, at high altitude. Federico Graziani, after various admirable stages in the wine world, driven by curiosity and knowledge, founded his company in Sicilian land in Randazzo, in the province of Catania. The label, a work by Pier Giuseppe Moroni, evokes the characteristics of the volcano and the marine abysses thanks to the mixed technique of enamel and tar.
The name "Mareneve" comes from the homonymous road, Via Mareneve, which connects Piano Provenzana with Linguaglossa and Fornazzo, reaching down to the seaside village of Riposto. It is the fruit of Federico's idea that inside the bottle there is a living, changeable element in perpetual evolution. The fermentations in the winery are the work of indigenous yeasts. A characteristic is the absence of malolactic fermentation. This label rests on fine lees for a year, followed by a refinement in the bottle.

At 1200 meters high, in the cold, but overlooking the sea: one can glimpse the sharp call of the snow, interspersed with a breeze that brings with it briny sensations. It fills the glass with an almost white, bright mantle, with some green tones, like the seabed. On the nose, aromas of lychee, pineapple, and lava stone emerge. The sip fills the mouth with persistence. Due to its freshness and hints of yellow fruit, it gives an intriguing push to sushi-based evenings. It also pairs well with dishes with bitter-toned vegetables, such as asparagus and green beans.
