Pecorino 'Irata' Clara Marcelli 2024
Artisanal
Organic and biodynamic"Irata" is a highly expressive territorial Pecorino from the Marche region with a fresh, fragrant, and marine personality. On the nose, herbaceous, fruity, and citrus notes lead to a decidedly fresh and savory tasting experience, typical and rich.
The Pecorino “Irata” by Clara Marcelli is a wine from Marche that stands out for how it combines richness of fruit and sapidity, a vivid example of territorial liquid. Producing bottles that become a guarantee of quality while stepping away from the "spotlights" has always been the goal of Emanuele and Daniele Colletta, owners of the Clara Marcelli winery since 1992, with 14 hectares of vineyards available near Ascoli Piceno. A true return to the land, with the set intention of bringing to life creations that tell a story and a territory. The consultancy of Marco Casolanetti, winemaker and owner of Oasi degli Angeli, has given a strong push in this direction, for a line that ranges from tasty everyday wines to an extremely fine red. Its purchase is recommended, without reservations.
The white “Irata” is obtained from pure Pecorino grapes with vines located at 250 meters above sea level, resting on clayey soils. While in the vineyard the dictates of organic farming are followed and manual harvesting is done, in the winery the same approach continues with spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts in steel containers and aging for 10 months in steel, cement, and stock tanks by Marc Grenier.
The Clara Marcelli “Irata” presents itself in the glass with an intense and lively straw yellow. The nose, extremely typical, opens up to notes of aromatic herbs, ripe yellow-fleshed fruit, orange peel, and salty puffs. Its expressive simplicity does not detract from the definition of the olfactory profile, vivid and inviting with a finish that recalls the Marche sea. On the palate, the liquid is full, endowed with a soft texture, but enlivened by an integrated dose of freshness and sea salt. The quality-price ratio, decidedly skewed towards the former, suggests a generous stock.
