Immerse yourself in the elegance of the Sangiovese di Romagna Superiore Riserva 'Il Nespoli' from the Poderi dal Nespoli winery. With an intense ruby red colour and surprising complexity, this wine enchants with its notes of cherry, blackberry and plum, caressed by a touch of liquorice and roasted coffee. Maturation in French barriques and steel gives depth and structure, while a light touch of vanilla from the American oak adds an extra dimension. Soft and enveloping on the palate, with balanced tannins, this wine lends itself to long and rewarding ageing
The Romagna Sangiovese Superiore Riserva 'Il Nespoli' is among Poderi dal Nespoli's most important labels, a red wine that traces the rich and structured style of the type. It is no coincidence that this bottle bears the name of the village of Nespoli, where the estate itself is located. In this place, a hamlet of the municipality of Civitella di Romagna, the Poderi dal Nespoli winery was founded in 1929, a reality that today can count on no less than 180 hectares of vineyards spread throughout the territory. In particular, the vineyards are located in the hills of the Bidente Valley, where the microclimate is characterised by significant temperature excursions between day and night, favourable to the accumulation of aromatic precursors in the grapes.
'Il Nespoli' Poderi dal Nespoli Sangiovese di Romagna Superiore Riserva originates from pure Sangiovese grapes cultivated in the Bidente Valley on loamy soils, at an altitude of 170 metres above sea level and facing west. The bunches, hand-picked between the end of September and the beginning of October, are vinified in red through alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks in contact with the skins. The subsequent ageing period takes place in French oak barriques, containers in which the wine remains for 12 months before final bottling.
In the glass, the Romagna Sangiovese Superiore Riserva 'Il Nespoli' by Poderi dal Nespoli displays an intense ruby red mantle. The aromas range from fruity notes of morello cherry, blackberry and plum to more complex hints of liquorice, roasted coffee and vanilla. The progression on the palate reveals important warmth and softness, as well as well-balanced tannins to accompany the finish of good fruity and spicy persistence. Due to its characteristics, this Sangiovese can easily be left to age for several more years in the cellar.
