The Veltliner Reserve 'Juliusberg' Schloss Maissau is a white wine that is full and enveloping, with great aromatic depth. On the nose, it expresses notes of white-fleshed fruit, candied orange peel, and toasted hazelnut notes on the finish, supporting a fresh, voluminous sip with good persistence. A white wine of good structure, which can rest for a few years in the cellar to fully express its great softness.

The Veltliner Reserve “Juliusberg” is one of the most prestigious labels of the Austrian winery Schloss Maissau, committed to enhancing the characteristics of the most famous indigenous grape variety in the country. The Grüner Veltliner Reserve arises from the desire to create a rich and intense white, capable of challenging time while preserving its typical varietal characteristics and enriching them with elegant tertiary evolutions. The extraordinary quality of the grapes and a long aging contribute to giving the sip an extraordinary aromatic concentration and a complex persistence, making this label a true excellence. It is a bottle that does not fear the passage of time and can rest in the cellar for about ten years.

The white Veltliner Reserve “Juliusberg” is the realization of a dream. In 1999, Josef M. Schuster succeeded in renting the historic vineyards of the castle of Maissau at Manhartsberg and creating an estate of 7 hectares managed under organic farming, with certification obtained in 2017. The area is among the most vocated in absolute for Grüner Veltliner. The vineyards are cultivated on soils of ancient marine origin, which have given rise to sandstones covered by loess rich in iron minerals. The grapes used for the reserve come from old vines planted in 1990 at an altitude of 350-400 meters above sea level, with exposure facing east and west. The cool climate with good temperature excursions allows for the production of grapes with very intense aromas. The selection of the best bunches undergoes a delicate pressing and the must ferments in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature. The wine is marketed only after a long aging in steel and in bottle.
