Ferentano Famiglia Cotarella 2021

Famiglia Cotarella

Famiglia Cotarella's Ferentano is a Latium white wine of medium structure and intensity. It comes from pure Roscetto grapes, a variety abandoned in the past and rediscovered in recent years. To the nose it gives sensations of exotic and tropical fruit with hints of vanilla. The palate is rich, with good softness and a persistent and long finish

FERENTANO FAMIGLIA COTARELLA 2021 DESCRIPTION

Ferentano is a white wine from Latium that shows the great work done by the Cotarella family, primarily by the great oenologist Riccardo, in rediscovering an indigenous regional variety that had practically disappeared, the Roscetto. A grape with small, compact grapes that needs the right attention to offer a product with good body. Obviously, this mission is well within the reach of the winery, which succeeds in offering a bottle with a special aromatic vein and with an enveloping sip that wins you over right from the start.

This Ferentano is made from Roscetto grapes, a native Latium grape grown mainly in the province of Viterbo. The winery raises it with the spurred cordon system in the Montefiascone area, in a vineyard of about 6 hectares, located about 300 metres above sea level. We are located within a skeleton-rich terroir. The must obtained from pressing the grapes undergoes cryomaceration at 8 degrees for 8 hours, and then ferments first in temperature-controlled steel vats and then in barriques, also carrying out malolactic fermentation. The final refinement continues for a few months in barrique, four to be exact, and then maturation continues directly in the bottle, after bottling.

The Ferentano presents itself visually with a concentrated straw yellow colour. Exotic fruit is intensely perceived on the nose, then enriched by herbaceous hints and slight sensations of sweet spices at the end of the olfactory analysis. On the palate, it is medium-bodied, broad and soft, with a velvety mouthfeel that fills the mouth; it closes with a finish endowed with good persistence. A wine that over the course of the vintages has been able to impose itself in the eyes of the main national and international wine critics with scores that are interesting to say the least.
