ROSSO DEL CONTE TENUTA REGALEALI - TASCA D'ALMERITA 2019 DESCRIPTION

Rosso del Conte Tenuta Regaleali - Tasca d'Almerita constitutes a fine expression with a warm and velvety taste, an iconic label of this important Sicilian winery. In fact, Rosso del Conte was one of those bottles capable of changing the oenological destiny of all of Sicily, steering regional production toward quality already during the early 1970s. It is a blend of the native Nero d'Avola and Perricone grape varieties from the San Lucio vineyard, the first large parcel of about 7 hectares identified by the estate.

Tenuta Regaleali - Tasca d'Almerita Rosso del Conte is derived from a blend of Nero d'Avola (58%) and Perricone (42%), varieties bush-trained at about 480 meters above sea level on yellowish-brown, partly calcareous sandy-loam soil with a slight presence of skeleton. Many of the vines were planted in 1959, and the remainder in 1965. In the cellar, alcoholic fermentation occurs in stainless steel tanks, with 20 days of contact between must and skins and complete malolactic fermentation. Aging of 18 months, on the other hand, takes place in french oak barriques of Allier and Tronçais new preceding bottling and further resting in a glass before release.

Tenuta Regaleali's Rosso del Conte - Tasca d'Almerita is bright ruby red in color. Rich, intense and spicy the olfactory panorama, described by hints of red fruits, sweet spices, licorice and coffee, enhanced by Mediterranean notes of olives and toasted nuts. The enveloping softness in the mouth is well balanced by a good freshness and marked savoriness, in an elegant and harmonious union, of long persistence. A classic of Sicilian enology, tasty already in its youth but capable of evolving in the bottle for a long time.
