The Lacryma Christi del Vesuvio Rosso by Villa Dora is a bottle of remarkable smoothness and typicity, produced from a blend of the indigenous grape varieties Piedirosso and Aglianico. The Villa Dora winery has been dedicated since 1997 to enhancing the established winemaking tradition of Vesuvius, whose origins date back to Ancient Rome. In addition to conveying the essence of this volcanic territory, the estate aims to safeguard it by applying environmentally friendly viticulture, as evidenced by its organic certification.
Villa Dora Lacryma Christi del Vesuvio Rosso is born from a blend of Piedirosso and Aglianico, whose grapes come from vineyards planted in 1990 on volcanic soils located between 250 and 300 meters above sea level. The agronomic management adheres to the principles of certified organic farming, and the harvest is carried out manually with careful selection of the bunches, which are then transferred to the winery for classic red winemaking, separated for the two varieties. The fermentations take place in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature, with about 12-14 days of maceration on the skins. Subsequently, the Piedirosso mass matures always in steel for 6-8 months while the Aglianico is aged for 10 months in second passage barriques. After blending, the wine is bottled and left to refine for 6 months before hitting the market.
The Rosso Lacryma Christi del Vesuvio Villa Dora has an intense ruby red color. The olfactory profile is decisive and full, characterized by hints of blackberry and sour cherry, notes of lavender, and a characteristic smoky mineral vein. Fresh and harmonious taste, with soft tannins that lead to a long pleasantly savory finish.
