Piccini's 'Sasso al Poggio' is a red blend with a bold yet elegant personality. It has a distinctive mineral character, typical of the rocky terrain where the vines are grown, which is reflected in both the nose and palate. On the nose, notes of ripe cherry meet liquorice and hints of vanilla, while on the palate it is deep and enveloping, with a tannic structure that supports the great juiciness of the sip

The 'Sasso al Poggio' from the Piccini winery in Tuscany is a Supertuscan with a spicy aromatic profile that reflects both the characteristics of the grape varieties used and the oak ageing process to which the wine has been subjected. With more than 140 years of history in the world of wine, the Piccini family brand is a true wine giant, in Tuscany and beyond, capable of producing over 16 million bottles per year. The Piccini family's focus remains on quality, pursued through a modern and innovative production approach aimed at enhancing the estate's vineyard heritage.

Piccini 'Sasso al Poggio' originates from a blend of Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grapes grown on medium-textured, clayey soils. When the grapes have reached ideal ripeness, each variety is harvested and vinified separately, undergoing alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks with prolonged maceration on the skins. Malolactic fermentation is also carried out completely, and the wine is then transferred to oak barriques for a long ageing period of 12 months before final bottling. The wine is not released for sale until it has rested sufficiently in the bottle.

Piccini's 'Sasso al Poggio' has an intense ruby red colour in the glass. The bouquet is composed of pleasant hints of morello cherry, orange peel and red flowers, enriched with mineral and iodine notes and deep hints of liquorice and vanilla that emerge on the finish. On the palate, it is robust and fresh, with very present but well-integrated tannins that accompany the persistent finish. Thanks to its structured and flavourful taste, this Supertuscan pairs beautifully with aged cheeses, substantial first courses and game-based main courses.
