Sauvignon Marco Felluga 2024
The Sauvignon by Marco Felluga is a fragrant white wine from the Collio wine region, aged for 6 months in stainless steel tanks on its own yeasts. It faithfully expresses the semi-aromatic nature of the French grape variety that composes it, recalling notes of sage, elderflower, and tropical fruit. On the palate, it reveals itself to be fresh and round, savory and with excellent balance.
The Sauvignon by Marco Felluga is a Friulian white wine that originates in the splendid territory of Collio Goriziano. This famous slightly aromatic grape variety of French origin has been present for centuries in the Friulian lands, where it has found suitable soils and favorable climatic conditions to express high-quality wines. The exclusively steel vinification allows for the preservation of the characteristic varietal profile of Sauvignon Blanc, enhancing its typical and unmistakable aromas and its characteristic vegetal nuances. Its aromas, its fresh and intense taste, immediately conquer the palate with a delicate but pleasantly persistent aromaticity.
The white Sauvignon is born from the experience of an ancient family of Friulian winemakers, who for many generations have cultivated vineyards in the wonderful region of Collio, at the extreme eastern border of Italy. It is here that Marco Felluga manages a 50-hectare estate, composed of vineyards located in the splendid hilly territories of the municipalities of Farra d'Isonzo, San Floriano del Collio, Oslavia and Cormòns. The soils characterized by marls and sandstones, called in dialect “ponca” and the mild climate, influenced by the nearby presence of the Adriatic Sea, constitute a perfect habitat for white grape varieties. The vinifications are conducted with the utmost respect for the characteristics of the grapes, brought to the winery always perfectly healthy and ripe, in order to guarantee the highest quality of the wines.
The Sauvignon wine by Marco Felluga is made with a cold maceration of the grapes and a subsequent very gentle pressing. The must ferments in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature. The wine matures for about six months on its own yeasts before being bottled. In the glass, it has a straw-yellow color with bright greenish reflections. The aroma is characterized by notes of elderflowers, notes of sage, medicinal herbs, ripe yellow fruit, and slight hints of tropical fruit. The sip is energetic and linear, with a juicy and satisfying taste and a long finish, of great mineral freshness.
