Vermentino Colli di Luni 'Giardino dei Vescovi' Giacomelli 2023
The Giardino dei Vescovi by Giacomelli is a fresh and Mediterranean Vermentino, born from aging in oak barrels. It presents itself visually with a straw yellow color with golden reflections, accompanied by a citrus and tropical bouquet, with intense notes of ripe fruit and chamomile flowers. On the palate, it is fresh and mineral, with a good savory persistence.
The Vermentino "Il Giardino dei Vescovi" from the Ligurian winery Giacomelli is a savory and fruity white wine that well represents the maritime character of the wines from the Colli di Luni area. This Mediterranean-faced grape variety, fond of sun and wind, expresses itself very well in the border area between Liguria and Tuscany, producing fragrant and fresh wines with great territorial typicity. The choice to use large barrels during vinification gives the Vermentino a particular structure and a good aromatic richness. Its dense fruit and elegant fruity aromas are enhanced by more evolved notes.
"Il Giardino dei Vescovi" is a Vermentino produced by a small winery that still works following craft traditions. Giacomelli cultivates just over ten hectares of vineyard in Castelnuovo di Magra, in the heart of the Colli di Luni area. The clayey schist soils and the climate, influenced by the presence of mountains and the sea, create a particularly favorable environment for vine cultivation. In this area, the Vermentino achieves remarkable finesse while expressing a beautiful density of fruit and a characteristic marine vein. The labels of Giacomelli are authentic interpretations of the place, born from splendid sun-kissed vineyards cultivated between the sky and the sea.
The Vermentino "Il Giardino dei Vescovi" from the Ligurian winery Giacomelli originates in the province of La Spezia, in the hilly area near Castelnuovo di Magra. It is in these splendid places that Giacomelli cultivates the Il Giardino Vineyard, a small half-hectare plot planted with Vermentino. After the soft pressing of the grapes, the must ferments half in steel and half in wood. It ages for about a year in 10-hectoliter French oak barrels and completes its aging with 6 months in the bottle. In the glass, it presents a straw-yellow color with bright golden reflections. The bouquet expresses fragrant notes of citrus, floral nuances, Mediterranean scrub herbs, and aromas of white-fleshed fruit. The sip is savory and intense, pleasantly rich and harmonious, characterized by a beautiful mineral freshness.
