The Pinot Grigio Ramato is a deep pink wine with a warm, enveloping profile. The nose waves intense and complex odors, including rose, ginseng, black cherry and coffee. Freshness and minerality complement a firm, pulpy structure that pairs well with hams, cheeses, white meats and salmon
Davide Feresin's Ramato constitutes a characteristic Friulian interpretation of Pinot Grigio, a grey berry variety processed through prolonged contact between the fermenting must and the skins, hence the wine's distinctive coppery colour and hence the label's name. The vineyard is located exactly at San Quirino, in Cormons, within the production area included in the Friuli Isonzo appellation. The agronomic management of the estate always respects nature and its cycles, while traditional winemaking practices are adopted in the cellar.
Davide Feresin Ramato Pinot Grigio is derived from only Pinot Grigio grapes from vines planted in 1997 on gravelly soils. Once harvested, the grapes are transferred to the winery for spontaneous alcoholic fermentation at a controlled temperature associated with 3-6 days of maceration on the skins. The ensuing 7-month maturation period takes place in vitrified cement tanks, followed by a few more months in the bottle before release.
Feresin Pinot Grigio Ramato exhibits a unique pink robe with auburn highlights. The bouquet expresses typical aromas of acacia blossom, strawberry, cherry and rose, combined with deeper hints of coffee and ginseng. Warm, soft and firm in the mouth, not lacking in balance and freshness, with a pleasant mineral reminder characterizing the long, pleasantly almondy epilogue. By virtue of its uniqueness and sensory characteristics that bring this bottle closer to a red wine than to a macerated white, Feresin's Ramato should be enjoyed not too cold in combination with dishes of a certain structure, such as white meat preparations or savoury first courses.
