The Berritta organic winery in Dorgali is introducing Cannonau 'Baillanu', an intense and structured expression of one of Sardinia's most representative grape varieties. Launched on the market in August 2020, this Cannonau is also linked to tradition in its name since the Sardinian language term 'baillanu' was once used in the Dorgali area to indicate a 'party-goer'. Like the winery's other labels, the 'Baillanu' label is the work of Dorgali illustrator Maurizio Brocca, who has ironically depicted a character intent on enjoying a glass of wine under the moon, pulled on one side by a friend who invites him to party and on the other by his companion who pulls him back.

Berritta di Dorgali 'Baillanu' Cannonau is made exclusively from grapes of the indigenous blackberry variety of the same name grown according to certified organic farming principles within the cru of Filieri. Here the vines are approximately 35 years old and benefit from the basaltic-vulcanic matrix of the soils and the high altitude of 450 metres above sea level. The bunches of grapes are hand-picked into crates and, after careful selection, delicately destemmed. Fermentation takes place spontaneously in stainless steel tanks thanks to the sole intervention of indigenous yeasts with 20 days of maceration on the skins. Once the fermentation process is complete, the mass is decanted into cement tanks where it remains to mature for about a year until bottling and a further few months' rest in the bottle.

The colour of the Berritta winery's Cannonau 'Baillanu' is an intense ruby red. The nose is articulated on fruity and floral suggestions of cherry, plum and violet, accompanied by delicate balsamic and mineral hints. Intense, elegant and deep on the palate, refreshed on the finish by a pleasant sapid vein.
