Chardonnay 'Donna di Valiano' is a Tuscan white with a small balance of Sauvignon Blanc that adds aromaticity in the glass. It is born on the calcareous soils of Castelnuovo Berardenga, then matures in steel to fully develop freshness and perfume. Subtle hints of exotic fruit meet aromas of yellow fruit, opening up to a delicate finish with notes of vanilla and butter. The structure is round and elegant, the finish caressing, definitely worth trying with shellfish or grilled squid
The Chardonnay 'Donna di Valiano' represents an exotically styled interpretation of the Castelnuovo Berardenga terroir produced under the Valiano label, owned by the renowned Tuscan Piccini family. Located in the Castelnuovo Berardenga area, at the southern end of the Chianti Classico region, the 75 hectares of vineyards that make up the Fattoria Valiano estate are dedicated to both traditional varieties, such as Sangiovese, and international varieties, including Chardonnay, a noble white grape of Burgundian origin.
The Chardonnay Valiano - Piccini 'Donna di Valiano' comes from a combination of a Chardonnay base and 10% Sauvignon Blanc. Once harvested, the grapes are transferred to the cellar and vinified in white by gentle pressing and alcoholic fermentation in thermoregulated stainless steel tanks. Once the fermentation process is complete, the mass is left to mature for about 3 months, half in oak barriques and the other half in stainless steel. The final release takes place after a short resting period in the bottle.
On visual inspection, the 'Donna di Valiano' Chardonnay from the Valiano - Piccini winery displays an intense straw yellow hue. The aromatic bouquet is defined by scents of peach, pineapple, lemon peel, tropical fruit and white flowers that meet hints of vanilla and butter on the finish, the latter enhanced by the passage in oak. On the palate it reveals good structure and roundness, with a smooth but densely enveloping progression that rests on a fresh citrus finish. To enhance the qualities of this Tuscan white wine, we recommend pairing it with seafood cuisine, especially seafood risottos or grilled shellfish.
