Nebbiolo Colline Novaresi 'Flores' Elena Conti 2022

Elena Conti's ‘Flores’ is a Nebbiolo Colline Novaresi with an energetic and rustic character. As can be deduced from the label designed by Maestro Mauro Mulini, this red wine is endowed with a distinct floral character, especially violet, together with more fruity hints of cherry and earthy hints. It matures in wooden barrels and steel tanks for 12 months and is immediately ready to be enjoyed, perhaps with a hearty potato and sausage dish, but can also enjoy a few years of ageing

NEBBIOLO COLLINE NOVARESI 'FLORES' ELENA CONTI 2022 DESCRIPTION

The Nebbiolo from Colline Novaresi 'Flores' represents an expression of Nebbiolo from Alto Piemonte with a genuine and rustic soul, produced by the winery Elena Conti without the addition of sulfites. This label, first released with the 2010 vintage, features artwork by Mauro Maulini, an artist native to Novara who wanted to pay homage to the pronounced floral character of this wine in its inaugural vintage, a characteristic also emphasized by the name 'Flores'. Moreover, the artwork aims to express the essential nature of this Nebbiolo, a wine without filtration.

'Flores' Colline Novaresi Elena Conti Nebbiolo originates solely from grapes of the black-skinned Nebbiolo variety, locally known as Spanna, grown on acidic soils of volcanic origin. The grapes are harvested between late September and early October, then crushed in stainless steel vats where spontaneous alcoholic fermentation occurs along with 2 weeks of maceration on the skins, with daily punching down during this period. The subsequent aging phase takes place partly in stainless steel and partly in wooden barrels, where the wine rests for about 12 months until final bottling. Throughout the entire process, no sulfur dioxide is added.

The Colline Novaresi Nebbiolo 'Flores' from Conti winery is intense ruby red in color. Distinctive vinous and earthy sensations describe the rustic olfactory profile along with pronounced fruity and floral notes of cherry, wild strawberry, and violet, as well as vegetal hints of tomato leaf. The fullness on the palate is immediately tempered by crisp freshness and a savory mineral vein, elements that, together with appetizing tannins, define an energetic and lively progression.

Perfect for young and medium bodied red wines which don't require excessive oxygenation to open. The opening, slightly tighter than the body of the glass, favors the concentration of aromas towards the nose, enhancing the perception of aromas and limiting the dispersion
