Carl Koch's Riesling 'Oppenheimer Herrenberg' is a dry, taut and vertical white wine with a marked territorial imprint. It comes from the steepest vineyard above Oppenheim, with slopes of up to 35 per cent! Extremely fresh, the palate is balanced and rounded by a short maceration on the skins and a long stay on the fine lees. The nose reveals yellow fruit, pineapple, elderflower and fresh herbs, while the palate is agile, fresh, mineral and harmonious. It pairs well with freshwater fish and white meats such as roast chicken with herbs

The Riesling Oppenheimer Herrenberg from Weingut Burgermeister Carl Koch is a wine with a tense and vibrant personality, the result of an organic production approach. The Herrenberg plot, where the grapes for this wine come from, is located above the town of Oppenheim, in the Rheinessen wine-growing area. This parcel enjoys excellent south-west exposure and is the steepest vineyard above Oppenheim cultivated by the Carl Koch winery, with slopes reaching up to 35%.

Carl Koch Riesling Herrenberg Oppenheimer is a pure Riesling from a vineyard planted in 1999 at an altitude of between 140 and 160 metres above sea level and cultivated according to certified organic methods. The soil that characterises the plot consists of calcareous marl and clay and enjoys frequent and refreshing night breezes during the ripening period of the grapes, a factor that contributes to the marked freshness of the finished wine. After harvesting, the grapes undergo 6 hours of pre-fermentation skin maceration, after which they are gently pressed. The must is then left to settle naturally before spontaneous alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks, the same containers where the wine is left to mature for 10 months on the fine lees.

The Riesling Carl Koch Oppenheimer Herrenberg has a straw yellow colour with bright reflections. The bouquet is lively and stimulating, with aromas of yellow fruit, pineapple and elderflower combined with pleasant herbaceous notes. A distinct mineral vein reminiscent of flint completes the bouquet. On the palate, it is fresh, harmonious and agile, with a delicate progression that rests on a refined finish.
