'Terra Greta' Magnum Tenuta Montiani 2017

Tenuta Montiani's 'Terra Greta' is a rare Chianti gem, produced in limited edition bottles from a 50-year-old vineyard. A profoundly artisanal product, it has a great capacity for maturation and performs at its best even 10 years after bottling. The bouquet, initially subtle, gradually develops revealing intense hints of red fruit, dried flowers, notes of Mediterranean scrub with tobacco and sweet spices that enrich the finish. The palate expresses power and balance, where brilliant freshness enhances the fruit and perfectly integrated tannins

'TERRA GRETA' MAGNUM TENUTA MONTIANI 2017 DESCRIPTION

Terra Greta' represents the pinnacle of prestige and exclusivity offered by the artisanal Tenuta Montiani, acting as the quintessence of the winery's identity. This small organic estate located in San Polo in Chianti, a hamlet in the municipality of Greve in Chianti, produces 'Terra Greta' in very limited quantities only in the best vintages. The label, inspired by the works of the Italian-Brazilian artist Alex Vallauri, is a dedication to women, starting with those who animate Tenuta Montiani. Indeed, behind this bottle lies the passionate work of Marinella Vallauri and her daughter Greta Zoe.

Tenuta Montiani's 'Terra Greta' originates from a selection of the best Sangiovese (85%) and Canaiolo (15%) grapes cultivated according to the principles of certified organic agriculture within the territory of San Polo in Chianti, at the northern end of the Chianti Classico region, on steep hilly terrain. Harvesting is carried out strictly by hand with careful selection of the bunches of grapes, which are then mellowed in small open wooden vats for spontaneous alcoholic fermentation, combined with prolonged maceration on the skins. For the subsequent ageing phase, the wine is decanted into small French oak barrels, containers in which it matures for approximately 24 months before further resting in the bottle for at least one year.

In the glass, Tenuta Montiani's 'Terra Greta' expresses an intense ruby red colour with slight garnet hues. The articulate olfactory texture is told by persuasive aromas of ripe cherry, blood orange, black fruits, dried rose and Mediterranean herbs, combined with deep hints of tobacco and sweet spices such as cinnamon. The sip succeeds in combining power and elegance, with velvety, well-integrated tannins contributing to the overall sensation of softness, supported by marked freshness in a juicy, harmonious finish.
