TRENTO SPUMANTE BRUT RISERVA 'PIANCASTELLO' ENDRIZZI 2019 DESCRIPTION

Trento Spumante Riserva 'Piancastello' is a fresh and elegant Metodo Classico made from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes. Ageing on the lees for at least 3 years gives the bouquet not only the mineral freshness typical of the terroir, but also good personality and expressive complexity. The floral and fruity aromas are enriched by hints of toasted bread crust, dried fruit and spices. The sip is dynamic, flowing, with a lively freshness and an aromatic persistence.

The Riserva 'Piancastello' is a Spumante Brut produced in a real cru on the Endrizzi estate. The Pian Castello vineyard is located on a terraced plateau halfway up the hillside, well exposed and completely surrounded by woods. Chardonnay and Pinot Noir have been cultivated here for more than thirty years with clones from Champagne, producing low yields of 50 quintals per hectare. After manual harvesting, the grapes are pressed very softly in whole bunches and the must is sent for fermentation, partly in stainless steel and partly in barriques. After several months of ageing, the base wines are blended to create the cuvée. The subsequent period of bottle ageing on the lees lasts 36 months before dégorgement.

The Metodo Classico Trento Brut Riserva Piancastello is a refined sparkling wine that well represents the noble Trentino tradition of making labels characterised by mineral freshness and aromatic richness. Low yields, perfect ripening of the grapes, considerable temperature fluctuations and a long period of ageing are the ingredients that make this Metodo Classico so successful. In the glass, it is straw yellow in colour, with fine and persistent perlage. The bouquet is fine and elegant with floral aromas, fruity notes, hints of pain grillé, vanilla and honey. The palate is fresh and lively, very harmonious and with a savoury, mineral finish.
