Campanelli

The single-parcel vinifications of Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi
Region Marche (Italia)
Address Campanelli, Via Scappia, 14 - 60038 San Paolo di Jesi (AN)

Located in San Paolo di Jesi, within the Castelli di Jesi wine-growing area, the Campanelli winery in the Marche region makes its bond with the local territory and tradition its cornerstone. This young winery was born from the passion for the world of wine of Francesco Campanelli, who is strongly intent on bringing out his own vision of the area, highlighting the numerous expressions that Verdicchio can take on in the Castelli di Jesi area. Indeed, within this wine-growing area there are innumerable cru, identified by geographical mentions such as Palombare, San Michele, San Nicolo' and Cerrete, plots where the Campanelli estate has its vineyards. Francesco's intention is to vinify the grapes from these plots separately in such a way as to enhance the particular characteristics of each vineyard.
The vineyards owned by the Campanelli estate are located at widely varying altitudes, ranging from 160 metres above sea level in the San Nicolo' cru, located on the slopes closest to the Adriatic Sea, to 330-370 metres above sea level in the Palombare vineyard, located close to the Apennine chain. The soil types are also varied, with a general richness of clay and limestone alternating with sand or sandstone compositions, again depending on the sub-zone of reference. In addition to Verdicchio, the main grape variety of the Castelli di Jesi, the plots also include varieties such as Trebbiano, Malvasia, Montepulciano and Canaiolo Nero. The vines are grown according to organic farming principles and the harvest is carried out entirely by hand in crates. The grapes destined for Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi are first chilled and then subjected to a soft pressing, with only the free-run must being fermented at a controlled temperature in stainless steel tanks. Finally, after several months of maturation in stainless steel and cement on the fine lees, bottling takes place.
The first label ever produced by the Campanelli winery is the Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico Superiore 'Palombare', a white wine that with its energy and refinement acts as a forerunner for the ambitious quality path undertaken by the estate.
