The San Polo winery interprets the Montalcino territory with tradition, class and respect, producing bottles of great majesty and power. The winery is located on the southernmost slope of the town of Montalcino, in the Sant'Antimo valley, at the point where Mount Amiata frames a very evocative landscape. Ancient villages, dense patches of green countryside, the elegance of Tuscan cypresses and the gentle breezy hills made it possible for Marilisa Allegrini in 1990 to identify the ideal location for her vines to grow. And yes, we are talking about her, the famous Italian woman and wine ambassador, who is the soul of the famous Allegrini winery and a point of reference for the Valpolicella area. Through her visionary entrepreneurial skills, she wanted to apply her vast knowledge and long experience to the vineyards of Montalcino. Her splendid cellar has become the symbol and the most representative element of the estate as, in addition to being synonymous with innovation and modernity, it is the first in Tuscany and the second worldwide to have been awarded the CasaClima Wine certification. This path of eco-sustainability began decades ago as a project to protect the environment, reduce water resources and respect agricultural processes. It is no coincidence that the grapes from the estate's vineyards are grown using a sustainable approach, which is also organically certified.

The San Polo winery covers an area of 16 hectares and is divided into two estates, the old San Polo estate which dates back to 1990 and the newer Montluc estate. The soils are poor and have a clayey and calcareous conformation, with a variable percentage of galestro, limestone and marl. The grapes are mainly Sangiovese, or rather Sangiovese grosso, which in these lands is referred to as Brunello because of the dark colour of the berries. The vines are exposed to the south and south-west at an altitude of 450 metres in a constantly ventilated area that allows them to avoid fog and frost, guaranteeing optimal ripening of the grapes.

This favourable and fertile terroir produces the wines of San Polo, which are true excellences of the Montalcino landscape. The Brunelli are the estate's most representative reds, and are characterised by a noble, powerful and profound profile. The other range is dedicated to simpler reds, such as the Rossi di Montalcino, which are younger and fresher expressions, though perfectly capable of capturing these splendid lands and conveying them with character and intensity in every sip. Definitively the most refined and traditional style of the Tuscan Montalcino.
