'1° Passaggio' Dos Tierras Badalucco

'1° Passaggio' Dos Tierras Badalucco

Dos Tierras - Badalucco De La Iglesia Garcia

The "1° Passaggio" from the Sicilian winery Dos Tierras Badalucco is an oxidative style macerated white wine of great character and taste. The glass is filled with a bright amber mantle that enchants the eye, recalling the colour of apricots, the aromas released are intense and recall notes of candied citrus and sweet oriental spices. The taste is full-bodied, enveloping, with an interesting tannic texture and a long, persistent finish that remains impressed in the mind and memory for a long time.

'1° PASSAGGIO' DOS TIERRAS BADALUCCO DESCRIPTION

The "3/4 de litre de Pierpaolo et Beatriz" from the Dos Tierras winery is a powerful white whose vibrancy is the result of a meeting of hearts and earths. The result is an extremely pleasant macerated juice. Dos Tierras Badalucco wines represent the bridge between the two worlds, Sicilian and Spanish. The story begins with PierPaolo, the fourth generation of winemakers, who moved to and then worked in Madrid, where he met Beatriz, originally from Seville. After learning that Pierpaolo's father had sold his land, they decided to move to Petrosino, a town by the sea between Mazzara del Vallo and Marsala, and run the family business there. Beatriz brings a breath of fresh air between Grillo and Nero d'Avola, adding the Andalusian grape varieties Verdejo and Tempranillo;

The vocated soils of family members in the Marsala countryside are heterogeneous in character. The historic white grape varieties from which "Il 3/4 di Litro di Pierpaolo e Beatriz" derives are grown on the sandy soil. Harvesting is strictly carried out by hand while pressing is done with the feet. Fermentation is aided by native yeasts only. This label is vinified in lightly oxidised barrels. A strict tradition is also followed in the cellar, literally the great-grandfather's decalogue of 1834, respecting the criteria on harvesting, crushing and oxidation.

Dos Tierras Badalucco 'Il 3/4 Litre di Paolo e Beatriz' is complex yet easy-drinking. The sip is citrusy, fresh and at the same time oxidised and enveloping. Their idea is to translate the vineyard into the glass in the simplest way possible. The nose ranges from candied citrus fruits to sweet spices. One can easily imagine it paired with a Thai dish, but also with a pumpkin risotto. Unfortunately, given its incredible drinkability, it will hardly face the entire course to the fish second course, but even there it would be an excellent companion.
