The Valerio Lucarelli winery is a small producer in the Marches region with a very ancient history, dating back to 1791. After more than two centuries of family tradition, Valerio continues to cultivate the two hectares of property and to make wine on his own following a traditional and territorial style. The territory is the hilly area of San Ginesio at an altitude of about 600 metres, in the province of Macerata and a short distance from the slopes of the Sibillini Mountains.

The symbols of the Antica Cantina Valerio Lucarelli are a wooden wine press from the late 18th century, handmade by the founder of the family, Luigi, and an old brick oven that contains the "callara", a large copper vessel that, in the past, was used for the production of cooked wine. Today, the sixth generation of the family dedicates itself with patience, passion and tenacity to the production of full-bodied and intense red wines from Sangiovese and Vernaccia Nera, an autochthonous vine from the Macerata area which is very common in the nearby town of Serrapetrona. In the family's vineyards there are also two rows of Cabernet Sauvignon that reflect the modern and international spirit, well rooted in history and tradition, that has animated the winery in recent years. The vineyards are cultivated on organic principles, without the use of plant protection products or synthetic chemicals, believing firmly in the importance of eco-sustainable agriculture to safeguard and enhance the territory. In the historic wine cellar, built in stone and brick, Valerio is assisted by the enologist Giovanni Basso, author in the past of great red wines from the Marches such as Kurni or Akronte. Vinification takes place spontaneously, without the addition of yeasts, in steel or cement tanks, and ageing takes place in French oak barriques.

Valerio Lucarelli's wines preserve the typicality of the Marches territory, combining power, richness and complexity. The "Lenòs", which is made from Sangiovese and Vernaccia Nera grapes, has a name that, in ancient Greek, translates as "press" and is inspired by the ancient traditions of the territory and the Lucarelli family. The "Sarnum" instead is produced exclusively from Sangiovese grapes, with long ageing in barriques, and is dedicated to the charming village of Sarnano, which lies at the foot of the Sibillini Mountains. Both wines are a celebration of the great potential of the terroir and embody the importance of a history that began in 1791 but whose roots go back even further in time.
