BARBERA D'ALBA SUPERIORE 'TÒIU' ADRIANO MARCO E VITTORIO 2022 DESCRIPTION

Adriano Marco and Vittorio's Barbera d'Alba Superiore 'Tòiu' is a beautiful, intense and fragrant version of the most popular wine of the great Piedmontese tradition. The short ageing in large casks makes this red wine softer and more harmonious, but without distorting its immediate vivacity and fruity richness. It is a perfect label to enjoy with the tasty first courses of typical Piedmontese cuisine.

The red 'Tòiu' Barbera d'Alba Superiore is produced on the family estate of Marco and Vittorio Adriano. The property is located in the municipality of San Rocco Seno d'Elvio and covers a total of 50 hectares, 10 of hazelnuts, 10 of woods and 30 of vineyards, cultivated only in the most suitable plots. It is in this splendid corner of the Langhe that wines with a strong personality are born, perfectly reflecting the best characteristics of the terroir. The Barbera vines are cultivated in the Basarin cru, which is located at an altitude of about 300 metres, with a sunny south-eastern exposure. The soils consist of grey tuffaceous marl. The vines have an average age of about 17 years and are trained using the Guyot method with yields of 40 quintals per hectare. The grapes are softly crushed and fermented in steel tanks at a temperature of 28 °C, with maceration on the skins for a few days. The wine matures for a few months in stainless steel tanks, followed by a few months in 30 and 50 hectolitre Slavonian oak casks.

The 'Tòiu' Barbera d'Alba Superiore from the Piedmontese winery of Marco and Vittorio Adriano is a gentle, drinkable red, with a generous, rich profile, son of the great terroir of the Basarin cru. The colour is ruby red with slight garnet hues. The nose opens on aromas of cherry, blackberry, wild berry jam and delicately spicy sensations. The attack on the palate is lively, with juicy, crisp fruit, silky tannins and a finish of intense freshness and good taste persistence.

When to drink
Wine good to drink now, but that can have a beautiful evolution after resting for a while in your cellar
Glass
Medium open goblet
Perfect for young and medium bodied red wines which don't require excessive oxygenation to open. The opening, slightly tighter than the body of the glass, favors the concentration of aromas towards the nose, enhancing the perception of aromas and limiting the dispersion
Longevity
You can let it rest in the cellar quietly for 3-4 years
