CHIANTI CLASSICO GRAN SELEZIONE 'VIGNETO DI CAMPOLUNGO' LAMOLE DI LAMOLE 2019 DESCRIPTION

Lamole di Lamole's Chianti Classico Gran Selezione "Vigneto di Campolungo" is a wine from the Chianti Classico area, known the world over for its natural vocation for producing unparalleled reds. The municipality of Greve is home to this winery within a wonderful medieval village: farmhouses, fountains and green hillsides surround the wine production. The estate has about 288 hectares of land, divided into part vines and woods that help create a thriving and balanced ecosystem that also benefits the grapes. The winemaking activity began after World War II, although the historical production and ageing cellar date back to the 1300s, part of the Castello di Lamole. Since 2005, the business has been undergoing a process of sustainable conversion, thanks to the decision to cultivate the vineyards entirely organically.

The grapes of Chianti Classico Gran Selezione "Vigneto di Campolungo" from Lamole di Lamole are cultivated at an altitude between 420 and 570 meters above sea level; the soil is pervaded by clay with a particular presence of sandstone and Apennine stone and a small percentage of sand, ideal for the Sangiovese to release its intrinsic characteristics to the fullest. The vineyards are set within dry stone walls, which are important for the vines because they reflect daylight, stimulating chlorophyll photosynthesis. Harvesting takes place between late September and October, and the grapes are picked by hand after careful sorting of the best bunches. After destemming and pressing, the must ferments in barrels with subsequent maceration on the skins for 2 weeks. It ages almost all of it 30 months in medium-sized barrels, while a small part in barriques, then supplemented at bottling.

To the eye, the Chianti Classico Gran Selezione "Vigneto di Campolungo" from Lamole di Lamole is a brilliant ruby red with intense reflections. The bouquet of aromas released is reminiscent of red and black berries, ripe red-fleshed fruit and, on the finish, spicy and balsamic hints; in the mouth, it is drinkable, enveloping and elegant with dense tannins but well integrated into the overall structure. It pairs perfectly with pasta dishes seasoned with elaborate sauces, rich soups with bold flavours and traditional red meat cuts cooked on the grill and in stews; also interesting with medium and long-aged cow's milk cheeses. Perfect to accompany celebrations of important occasions or family anniversaries, sharing a unique product.
