"Roncicone" is a Chianti Classico Gran Selezione of great structure and intensity, aged for 22 months in tonneaux. On the nose, it opens with elegant notes of ripe forest fruit, accompanied by delicate nuances of sandalwood, spices and a balsamic accent. On the palate, the wine is assertive and powerful, with well-defined tannins supported by a persistent freshness.

The Chianti Classico Gran Selezione 'Roncicone' of the Ricasoli winery is a Sangiovese from the Gaiole area with arefined and profound soul, at the top of quality of the entire denomination. The Gran Selezione labels offered by the historic Ricasoli winery are the result of an accurate zoning study commissioned by the current owner Francesco Ricasoli, at the helm of the estate since 1993. From this study it emerged that within the Ricasoli estate there are no less than 19 different soils, which can be grouped into 5 geological areas, with the 'Roncicone' grapes coming from soils consisting of marine deposits of Pliocene origin.
Roncicone' Ricasoli Chianti Classico Gran Selezione is made from pure Sangiovese grapes grown on south-east facing hillsides in the commune of Gaiole in Chianti. Specifically, the vines, planted between 1998 and 2000, are at an altitude of 320 metres above sea level and rest on soils consisting of marine deposits of sand and stones polished by the sea, laid on a layer of clay. In the cellar, the grapes are mellowed in 100-hectolitre stainless steel conical tanks, where alcoholic fermentation is triggered through the inoculation of selected yeasts. The fermentation process takes place at a controlled temperature and is accompanied by approximately 14-16 days of maceration on the skins. The subsequent ageing phase of 22 months takes place in 500-litre tonneaux, 30% new and 70% second-passage.
Chianti Classico 'Roncicone' Gran Selezione di Ricasoli has an intense ruby red colour with a garnet rim. The rich olfactory texture is narrated by refined aromas of currant, orange, ripe cherry, violet, oriental spices, vanilla, noble woods and balsamic memories. The taste is structured but well balanced thanks to the brilliant freshness that supports the volume of the sip, accompanied by a silky tannic texture in a progression of lasting persistence.
