Guado al Tasso is the Bolgheri estate of Antinori, one of the historic families of the wine world, which was already involved in viticulture in Tuscany in 1385. In addition to the historic properties in the Chianti Classico area, over the years Antinori has added other estates in central Italy, including Bolgheri. The Guado al Tasso estate is located in the splendid territory of the Tuscan coast, a relatively young area in the context of the region's winemaking tradition, which only became famous after World War II. The land, not very suitable for Sangiovese, was not considered of particular value until the cultivation of international red grape varieties of Bordeaux origin or from the Rhone Valley began.

The Guado al Tasso estate covers a total area of approximately 320 hectares, in the heart of the Bolgheri area. The land is mainly flat and lies between the Tyrrhenian coast and the first hills that run parallel to the coast and protect the area from the cold north-easterly winds. The climate is typically Mediterranean, warm and always very breezy thanks to the gentle breezes of the Tyrrhenian Sea. The proximity of the sea gives the atmosphere an incredible luminosity, which makes the vegetation and the vines flourish. The soils are rather heterogeneous and are mainly composed of soils of alluvial origin, sand, pebbles, clay and silt, with the presence of rocky deposits.

In these particular climatic conditions, French red grape varieties have found a second home. Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Syrah and Petit Verdot express themselves at high levels of quality, power and elegance. Pleasant fruity notes are combined with nuances of Mediterranean scrub, balsamic touches, mineral and iodine hints typical of the Bolgheri terroir. It is in this land that some of the most prestigious red wines of all, famous throughout the world and a symbol of Italian excellence, are born. Despite the fact that Bolgheri is a land fundamentally dedicated to the cultivation of red grapes, Vermentino is also grown here with excellent results and interesting rosé wines are produced.
