Lugana Santa Cristina - Zenato 2024
Santa Cristina is a pure Lugana wine from Podere Massoni, Zenato winery's historic vineyard. With a beautiful straw yellow colour, it offers mineral and fruity aromas with hints of citrus and butter. Soft and balanced on the palate, consistent with the nose and with excellent flavour and freshness
Lugana "Santa Cristina" is the result of research carried out by Cantina Zenato, aimed at producing a pure Trebbiano di Lugana, aged solely in steel, with good structure and great varietal typicity. Only grapes from the historic Podere Massoni vineyard in Peschiera del Garda are used to produce this wine, which guarantees optimal ripeness of the grapes every year, with rich and intense aromatic profiles.
Zenato's "Santa Cristina" is the fruit of old vines over 50 years old, cultivated on the prized clay soils of the southern part of Lake Garda. The splendid southern exposure of the vineyard and the mild climate of this small corner of the Mediterranean, magically located between Brescia and Verona, provide grapes of excellent quality with exceptional characteristics of ripeness and richness. At the end of the harvest, which usually takes place towards the end of September, the grapes are gently pressed and the must is fermented at a controlled temperature of 16-18 °C in steel tanks for about 15-20 days. The wine always matures in steel tanks for about 4-5 months and finishes ageing with a few months in the bottle.
The Santa Cristina wine expresses all its personality and fruity richness in the glass, with mature notes and intact freshness. It has a straw yellow colour with subtle greenish reflections. The bouquet is striking in its intensity and complexity, with citrus, floral and tropical fruit notes. The palate is lively and refreshing, with crisp fruit, which unfolds richly and persistently towards a pleasantly savoury finish. It pairs best with lake fish and seafood in general.
