The Umbrian agricultural estate Palazzone represents one of the most important realities of the Orvieto wine-growing district, the protagonist of a production inextricably linked to the territory. Today's history of the winery began in the 1960s, specifically in 1968, when Angelo Dubini and his wife Maria Locatelli purchased the Podere Palazzone in Rocca Ripesena. This farm was built in 1299 by Cardinal Teodorico, originally as a shelter for pilgrims. In the 1980s the baton was passed to Giovanni Dubini, son of Angelo and Maria, who built the first winery in 1988. Moreover, after a restoration respecting the original architecture, the Palazzone now offers the opportunity to stay in its beautiful suites surrounded by vineyards.

The Palazzone winery property covers 24 hectares under vine, reserved for the traditional Orvieto grape varieties Procanico, Grechetto, Verdello, Drupeggio, Malvasia and Sangiovese, as well as a few international varieties such as Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Grigio, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Viognier. These varieties are planted on clay and tufaceous soils of sedimentary and volcanic origin, often rich in marine fossils, located at an altitude between 210 and 340 meters above sea level. Agronomic management is based on the principles of integrated pest management, aimed at minimizing the use of phytosanitary treatments. In addition, the sought-after climatic conditions of the area allow the development of noble rot on the grapes, a factor that enables the production of so-called "muffati wines," an excellence of the Orvieto area. In the winery, fermentations take place mainly in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, the same type of wine containers where some of the labels remain to mature, with the remainder aging instead in barriques and large chestnut or oak casks.

The Palazzone winery's production includes labels of great typicity and character, also distinguished by excellent value for money. All the wines then express the overwhelming minerality of the Orvieto Classico terroir, a denomination interpreted in different versions by the Dubini family.
