PRIMITIVO DI MANDURIA 'SESSANTANNI' MAGNUM SAN MARZANO 2019 (CONFEZION DESCRIPTION

Cantina San Marzano's Primitivo Di Manduria "Sessantanni" Magnum is an excellent wine, well balanced and characterized by a precise and velvety tannic texture. Cantine San Marzano is a cooperative that brings together 1,200 Apulian winemakers, resulting in one of the most important and renowned wine productions in Puglia. It is no coincidence, in fact, that the labels fully reflect the territory of Manduria, drawing yes from an ancient tradition but also dressing in a modern, elegant, precise and clean veil. Thus is born a unique expression, which over the years has earned a place among the most important reds in Apulian oenology.

San Marzano "Sessantanni" comes from old sapling vines that grow on soils consisting of the residual red soils, fine-textured and generally with limestone substrate and sparse rocky outcrops. This terroir proves to be particularly suitable for the ripening of Primitivo; in addition, the warm climate, with low annual rainfall and very high temperature ranges, has a highly beneficial influence on the quality of the grapes. The production philosophy capable of creating an agreement between a strong traditional matrix and a more modern approach has created the basis for making Cantine San Marzano's wines of the highest quality, an indispensable reference point in the entire Apulian wine scene. Primitivo grapes are harvested late to encourage greater sugar accumulation and lower water concentration. After careful selection of the best clusters, a dense, concentrated juice is obtained that ferments with indigenous yeasts selected in the vineyard with long maceration on the skins that lasts over 40 days. This is followed by ageing for at least 12 months in barrique before resting a few months in the bottle and being ready to be released to the market.

The Magnum Primitivo di Manduria "Sessantanni" is but the first spokesman for the excellent work being done by the winery. A red wine for those who appreciate extraction and aromatic richness: fleshy, intensely fruity and of great persistence. Notes of marmalade, spices, chocolate, Mediterranean hints, and jam extend over a soft and enveloping body, warm, dense and harmonious, with a long and unforgettable finish. A concentrated wine with a long persistence in the Magnum format will give a beautiful evolution.
