SANGIOVESE FATTORIA DI SAMMONTANA 2022 DESCRIPTION

The Sangiovese from the Tuscan winery Fattoria di Sammontana is a pleasant and accessible expression of Tuscany's best-known grape variety. This popular variety, of which there are as many as a hundred clones, has contributed more than any other grape variety to the oenological greatness of the Tuscan territory in the world, of which it is the undisputed ambassador. Fattoria di Sammontana, located in the Colli Fiorentini, precisely in the municipality of Montelupo Fiorentino, 'pampers' its Sangiovese vineyards by embracing the dictates of organic and biodynamic agriculture in order to promote the well-being of the plants, the soil and the ecosystem in general.

Fattoria di Sammontana Sangiovese is made exclusively from grapes of the traditional variety of the same name grown according to organic and biodynamic practices. The vines, trained by the spurred cordon and guyot systems, are approximately 30 years old and are planted on soils of alluvial origin that are particularly rich in the skeleton. When the berries have reached the ideal stage of ripeness, the grapes are harvested by hand, followed by destemming and mashing in vitrified cement vats, where alcoholic fermentation occurs spontaneously thanks to the presence of only indigenous yeasts in contact with the skins. The mass then matures for several months between steel and cement and is finally bottled without undergoing any filtration.

The Sangiovese di Fattoria di Sammontana has a deep ruby red colour with violet hues. The olfactory mosaic is composed of pleasant scents of cherry, orange peel, violet petals and bay leaves. Fresh and, at the same time, rather warm on the palate, endowed with caressing softness, unobtrusive tannins and a certain vivacity.
