The Fenocchio family has been producing wine in Monforte for generations, but it was with Giacomo, in the 1970s, that the remarkable development of their wines began. The winery was founded in 1864, and today it is Claudio and Albino Fenocchio who guide it through the extraordinary winemaking landscape that is Bussia di Monforte. The production philosophy that distinguishes this historic Piedmontese winery is one of tradition, made up of careful work in the vineyards and long vinifications with the use of large barrels in the cellar. The result is truly exceptional and stunning: a fine wine, built on elegance and the delicate tones typical of the Nebbiolo variety.

The grapes are grown in the Bussia vineyard, 4 hectares of land facing south-west on clay and limestone soils, rich in iron. Since 1972 the company has also owned a vineyard in Cannubi, while since 1995 the property also includes a vineyard in Villero, another historic, highly suitable cru.

Cultivation in all the vineyards is based on the principles of sustainability aimed at reducing environmental impact. All this has led Claudio to make wine with a confident touch, without consultancy, in the traditional way and reducing intervention in the cellar to a minimum, resulting in wines that are sincere, respectful of the terroir and the vintage; wines that are far from standardised, but incredibly fascinating for their intense aromas and scents: in a nutshell, unique.

Claudio himself explains the philosophy behind the production of these enological gems from Piedmont: "Our Barolo remains five months in stainless steel vats and two years in large Slavonian oak casks and is aged in bottles for one year. We therefore avoid periods in barriques, which would be excessively aromatising, in order to maintain the unique character of this wine as much as possible. The passing of time will give it complex and intriguing aromas, for palates ready to grasp the pleasantness of aspects that are never taken for granted, of great charisma".

This is how wines are created that are the authentic expression of a territory: with the love and dedication that only producers in love with their land can achieve.
