Antonelli San Marco is a winemaking reality that develops in the Montefalco area in a constant combination of traditional approach and continuous research. Under the competent and innovative leadership of Filippo Antonelli since 1986, the winery has become a point of reference for the entire district, strong with a passion handed down through five generations and a wine-making heritage rooted in the Middle Ages. In fact, as early as 1881 the Antonelli estate has been known for its marked innovative sensibility, aimed at the transformation of the San Marco estate and the modernization of vineyard cultivation.

The San Marco Antonelli extends over about 170 hectares that are home to a remarkable biodiversity: from vineyards to olive groves, passing through forests and animal farms. The 50 hectares dedicated to vineyard acreage are concentrated in the hamlet area and lie on gentle slopes. The clay-limestone soils are surrounded by a few wooded plots that act as thermoregulators and are managed according to organic farming principles, geared toward the production of certified organic wines that are delicate rather than powerful, elegant and balanced. The rows of native red varieties, such as Sagrantino, and white varieties, such as Trebbiano Spoletino and Grechetto, follow the slope of the south- and west-facing slopes. Vinification and racking reflect the desire to safeguard typicality: in fact, both are carried out by gravity, avoiding damage to the integrity of the skins and thus preserving their richness in tannins. While carefully respecting traditions, Filippo's estate does not fail to experiment with a view to constant research work: thus, terracotta and ceramic amphorae can be found in the cellar, as well as truncated concrete barrels.

The identity of Antonelli San Marco is clearly recognizable in the interpretation of the wines of Montefalco, whose organic winemaking is for Filippo the most faithful representation of the expressive distinctiveness of the San Marco terroir. The winery's production today is a symbol not only of the Antonelli family's respect for the terroir and its grape varieties, but also of the desire for continuous improvement from generation to generation.
