Chapelle de Blagny is a Burgundy Domaine that proudly interprets the territory of Blagny, a hamlet in the Côte de Beaune located on the hill overlooking Puligny-Montrachet. The earliest written records of winemaking activity in the area date back to the 12th century, a time when the Cistercian abbey of Maizières received the property of Blagny from the canons of the cathedral of Langres and began producing wine. In 1811 the descendants of the current owners bought the Domaine, which has since become famous for the high quality of its wines thanks to the work done by the monks over the centuries. Currently it is Etienne de Brechard, the seventh oenological generation of the family, who nurtures the tradition of his predecessors by enhancing the excellence of Blagny.

The vineyards of the Chapelle de Blagny winery are planted on clay and limestone soils with the traditional Burgundian grape varieties: Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. These varieties are cultivated by the de Brechard family through an agronomic approach leaning toward respect for the environment, excluding the use of herbicides, insecticides and systemic plant protection products. In addition, through pruning, grape yields are limited and the harvest is carried out entirely by hand. For the reds, winemaking involves complete destemming of the grapes, followed by alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks in contact with the skins for a few days post-fermentation as well. Then the wine is placed to age for about 12 months in oak barrels, 30% new. In contrast, the Chardonnay is directly whole cluster pressed and the resulting must undergoes alcoholic and malolactic fermentation in oak barrels, again with 30% new wood. The subsequent maturation period of about a year also takes place in oak and is followed by a few months of rest in steel before final bottling.

The Blagny territory brings together the Premier Cru appellations of Meursault and Puligny-Montrachet, renowned for the excellence of their Chardonnays. Chapelle de Blagny interprets these prestigious appellations with skill, resulting in harmonious and refined white and red wines.
