The Galardi winery is one of Campania's wine excellences. It is located near San Carlo di Sessa Aurunca, in the province of Caserta, and has vineyards on the slopes of the ancient extinct volcano of Roccamonfina, in an area particularly suited for viticulture. This is a recently born estate, the result of passion and love for the land of Campania and great wines. In 1991, fascinated by the beautiful natural landscape of the place, Maria Luisa Murena, Arturo Celentano, Roberto Selvaggi, Francesco Catello and Dora Catello, decided that those lands would become the realization of the dream of trying to make a high-end red wine, faithful to the noble regional traditions.
The Sessa Aurunca property was originally a traditional farm. After the acquisition it was consecrated only to the cultivation of vines, planting Aglianico and Piedirosso, the two red grape varieties historically present in these lands and with perfectly complementary characteristics. The soils are of very ancient volcanic origin, rich in valuable mineral elements. The climate is particularly mild, thanks to breezes from the nearby Tyrrhenian Sea. The vineyards are immersed in a landscape dominated by chestnut forests and olive groves that slope down from the slopes of the volcano toward the coast, offering sunny exposures, a guarantee of excellent ripening of the grapes. An environment still unspoiled and rich in natural biodiversity.
The Aglianico and Piedirosso vineyards have been planted at a high density with the sole objective of obtaining grapes of the highest quality. The winery has long been distinguished by the production of a single wine, which has since 2017 been joined by a Piedirosso in purity. Terra di Lavoro was first made in 1994 and takes its name from the toponym by which the area of Sessa Aurunca was called at the time of the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies. The wine immediately received great acclaim in Italy and abroad, highlighting a perfect balance between the power and tannic structure of Aglianico and the fruity pleasantness of Piedirosso. A harmonious combination that represents very well the customs of the territory with a red wine with an elegant, intense and complex profile.
