Marchand Tawse is a Maison de Négoce created by Canadian-born winemaker Pascal Marchand and Domaine Tawne. Pascal Marchand arrived in France in the early 1980s and began his activity in some of Burgundy's great Domaines: at Clos des Épeneaux in Pommard, then at Domaine de la Vougeraie in Nuits-Saint-Georges, before setting up his own business, partnering with Maray Tawne, so as to combine expertise, experience and tradition. The first vintage was released in 2010, and after the acquisition of Domaine Maume in Gevrey-Chambertin, the estate now has about 8 hectares with parcels located in some of the best terroirs of the Côte de Nuits et de la Côte de Beaune.
Maison Marchand Tawse, thanks to a careful selection of plots, can offer a wide range of labels that represent the Burgundy landscape very well. The catalog includes some of the region's best crus. As for white wines: Meursault, Puligny-Montrachet, Nuits-Saint-Georges, Saint Romain, Rully, Ladoix, Pouilly-Fuissé, Corton-Charlemagne, Saint-Aubin, Viré-Clesse and Chablis. There is certainly no shortage of great Pinot Noirs from Burgundy: Bennes Mares, Chambolle-Musigny, Charmes-Chambertin, Clos Vougeot, Chambertin, Clos de Vougeot, Clos Saint Denis, Corton, Morey-Saint-Denis, Pommard, Volnay, Musigny.
Marchand Tawse has special characteristics in the Maison de Négoce panorama. The Domaine, in fact, has decided to be inspired by the principles of organic and biodynamic agriculture in order to obtain healthy and genuine grapes. Vineyards are managed with high density and low yields, and harvests are carried out when perfectly ripe, in order to have rich and intense aromas. From the winemaking point of view, simple principles are also applied that are very respectful of the raw material. All fermentations take place using only indigenous yeasts and are carried out with very delicate extractions. Every choice, both in the vineyard and in the cellar, is geared to highlight and enhance each individual terroir, so as to offer an authentic snapshot of the terroir of Burgundy and all its fascinating nuances.
